UPDATE: Dashcam video released from police chase

UPDATE: Channel 3 has obtained dash cam video that shows a chase between multiple police officers and two murder suspects. 

The chase, which lasted several minutes, reached speeds of 60mph in some East Chattanooga neighborhoods Saturday afternoon. 

Three suspects, including a juvenile female not charged in the murder, were apprehended after the stolen truck crashed into a ditch. 

Chattanooga police identified the shooting victim in Saturday's death as 66 year-old Robert Rutledge.


PREVIOUS STORY: Two Chattanooga men are facing murder charges in connection to a death on Tunnel Boulevard, Saturday. 

According to court documents obtained by Channel 3, 17-year-old Javonte Davis and 19-year-old Gary Toney Jr. are both charged with felony murder. Davis, who is a juvenile, has ties to another murder investigation. Officials say that is why his name is being released.

Saturday afternoon, Chattanooga Police were looking for a white truck belonging to a man found dead in his Shepherd Hills apartment off Tunnel Boulevard. 

Later that day, an investigator spotted the missing truck, with three people inside, on Milne Street. When the officer got behind the truck, two suspects jumped out while it was slowly rolling, and started shooting. The suspects also shot into a crowd at the corner of Arlington Avenue and Milne. Two bystanders were hit by bullets.

Police chased the suspects in the truck, until they crashed the vehicle on Kendale Drive. Davis, Toney and a female juvenile were arrested.

Investigators later found bloody clothing, a bloody knife, and mail belonging the the male victim on Tunnel Boulevard inside Gary Toney's residence.

Davis and Toney are being held at the Hamilton County Jail with no bond.


PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher confirms to Channel 3 the department is investigating an apparent homicide at 404 Tunnel Boulevard. He says three people are in custody, accused of stealing the victim's truck. Police were called to an apartment complex on Tunnel Boulevard Saturday afternoon around 12:30, where investigators found the body of a man inside one of the apartments. Police say he sustained some sort of injury.

A short time later, officers spotted a white truck belonging to the victim with three people inside. The suspects realized an unmarked police vehicle was behind them and opened fire at the police vehicle. Police started chasing the suspects. At one point, police say shots were fired from the vehicle along Dodson Avenue, striking two people.

The suspects crashed the truck on Kendale Drive, near Cambridge Drive. One of the suspects was knocked unconscious from the crash. The other two ran. Within an hour, police found the two suspects on the run and took them into custody. Police arrested two men, 17-year-old Javonte Davis and 19-year-old Gary Toney Jr., as well as a female juvenile.  

The two people hit by gunfire on Dodson Avenue were treated and released from the hospital for what police call non-life threatening injuries.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation.


PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Police are investigating the death of one individual in the 400 block of Tunnel Blvd.

Police found the body of one male victim within an apartment. 

Police tell us the individual did sustain injury, but the cause of death/injury is undetermined at this time.
