Malachi Smith is the SoCon Player of the Year and tournament MVP, and it's been a long run to get there. He chats his journey, his relationship with his mom, and the Mocs upcoming trip to the big dance.

The Chattanooga Mocs are off to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six year. A big reason why is guard Malachi Smith.

Smith was named the SoCon Player of the Year and earned tournament MVP honors in Asheville.

It's been quite the journey for Smith who had to sit on the bench his first season in Chattanooga after transferring from Wright State.

Smith credits his mom for giving him strength, his shoes as a way to express himself, and don't count out these Chattanooga Mocs.
