Three adults and three children have been displaced after a fire broke out at a home in Alton Park Thursday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the call just before noon in the 3700 block of Dorris St.

CFD says the fire appeared to start from a malfunctioning dryer that the resident tried to put it out but couldn’t.

The intersection of Dorris St and E. 38th St were blocked for about an hour for firefighters to use the water supply.

All family members and pets were able to escape without any injuries.

CFD says the family will be receiving assistance from Red Cross.

The contents of the home have been determined a total loss.
