Dayton City School teacher arrested for rape and child sex charges

A Dayton City School social studies teacher has been suspended after being charged with one count of rape and four counts of aggravated sexual battery.

The time frame for the alleged offenses was 2005-2010 and according to an indictment, includes a child under 13-years-old.

Michael Arnold was arrested on April 7th and has since been released after posting a $25,000 bond.

The charges do not involve a Dayton City School student.

The Director of Schools, Trish Newsom, says the system is committed to the safety, well-being, and best interests of its students.
